IT Update - 6th June 2019

Greetings Elanco IT Team,

We continue to make progress during this exciting and historical time at Elanco. I’m happy to share recent updates and information.

Tech Talks
To inspire learning and advocacy of our Microsoft suite before the new solutions arrive, we created education sessions called Tech Talks. Our first tech talk from Microsoft was on Collaboration and Productivity. The recording can be found here.
Attendance and engagement for this first session was excellent with more than 60% of the IT organization attending. Some great questions were asked. Thank you to everyone who joined and we look forward to seeing you at the next session.
The next topic will be Data and more information will be posted on the Tech Talk Teams channel. Elanco IT teams are encouraged to join these education sessions, offered every few weeks.

ETS

  • Network
    • The RFP responses are in. Site cutover workshops were collaborative and successful. We’re working our way through many pages of documentation to score and down-select the best responses. Two providers will make it through to the presentation phase.
  • Workplace Services
    • Zoom licenses for hosting meetings are now available and you can request one here.
    • Logitek and Meeting Owls are the proposed conference room solution. Meeting rooms will utilize Logitech equipment.
    • New digital signage features released by Zoom meet some of our use cases and we’ll be working through these with our Corporate Comms team as potential solutions. We also spoke with Walmart about how they use Zoom for digital signage.
  • Productivity
    • We’re developing guidance to help users prepare their files and documents for the Microsoft transition.
  • Cloud
    • We’ve successfully migrated some applications to Azure and run an introduction session to Azure Technologies for some key IT users.
  • Identity
    • We’ve been addressing the question: What happens to IAM in the Microsoft Tenant Migration?
    • Buildout of Active Directory & RSA environment began on May 31.
  • Service Management
    • Demos coming soon!
    • User Acceptance Testing (UAT) starts June 10.
  • Productivity
    • User Data Migration: We are working to understand the current landscape of user data, where it’s stored, how it’s connected and where it could be moved. We’ll communicate more as as conclusions are reached.
  • Cloud
    • Successful application migration into Azure: During the week of May 13, the Cloud team worked with several application owners to develop a rapid prototype of how an application could work within the Azure environment leveraging the modern technology ecosystem.
    • We are currently documenting this process to provide high-level guidance on transformations
    • On May 15, we ran an Introduction to Azure Technologies session at Microsoft’s site in Indianapolis with Greenfield-based advisors, developers and security team. This session was successful. Each user had the opportunity to spin up a sample web application in several our hosting patterns.
    • We are now starting to build out our production subscriptions.
  • Identity
    • We’ve been mapping out how IAM is impacted by our tenant migration options in a series of workshops with Lilly’s IAM and O365 teams, and then with the ETS team again (ongoing).

On behalf of the IT Lead Team, thank you for your hard work and commitment to Elanco as we stand up our IT platforms and solutions.
Kind regards,
Fred Wenzel
