A Word from Mike Henry:

During these strange times, where the world has changed and people need to focus on themselves, their family and staying safe, we still have work to do to ensure our great company emerges as a strong and healthy company and we continue to supply critical medicines to animals for both our beloved pets and our food chain.

TechOps is continuing to push on our delivery across multiple workstreams and as the team adjusts to be being completely virtual, we continue to be successful – delivering some key milestones over the last 2 weeks alone with our first Pilot users in the UK and USA now working in the Elanco environment, completing our Colo Datacenter testing and taking a huge step toward GxP readiness for our hosting platforms and delivering VDI so 3rd parties are able to access our systems for support and build activities.
We should celebrate these wins and although we have more challenges ahead, pause to be proud of what we have achieved so far as a team, but also as Elanco IT.

On the challenges – now is not the time to point fingers and assign blame as everyone has their own personal and work challenges adjusting to a brave new world where our parents, our children and our friends take center stage for our energy.  Now is the time to pull together as a team, focus on the real priorities and support each other in our common goal to become an independent company.

Automation – Sam Stenton

  • Support contract covering Azure DevOps, GitHub, Ansible and Embotics has been put in place with Alcor.
  • WWT handover to Warsaw DevOps team in progress
  • Warsaw DevOps team executing POC with Terraform Enterprise.

Backup & Restore – Jon Bond

  • We had a Kick-off workshop with ADP to plan how we integrate our Rubrik backup and restore service to the Colo’s.
  • Qualification underway with the support of ADP and WWT.
  • Targeting hardware deployment by end of April.

Bison – Tom Burton

  • Completed workshop with Bayer & TCS to finalise technical design for 3 big areas:
    • Network Bridge Design – think of this as the pipe that will allow access between the COF and Elanco environment.
    • Identity and Access Management Design – think of this as the approach to user IDs and how users will login to various different applications.
    • O365 Design – think of this as the approach to how users will collaborate and access different O365 capabilities (e.g. see calendar free/busy, chat, web conference)
  • Completed basic POC for data migration for migrating NON-COF email, OneDrive data into the Elanco O365 environment.
  • Started planning alternative options in the event the COVID-19 continues or escalates.

Zoom -  Jo Hutchins-Joss & Taylor Hobbs

  • In the past 2 weeks, we’ve provisioned over 500 new Zoom accounts, and supported users with their transition to cope with the new challenges brought about by remote working.
  • We’ve run a train the trainer session with Zoom, to support our commercial trainers who will cascade this training onwards as part of this new way of working with customers. You can watch the session here: Zoom and Elanco training video
  • In response to the extremely heavy demand, we’ve updated our request form to require more justification on why people are requesting Zoom, ensuring that the stock of licenses we have are given to those where the current tools doesn’t meet their needs. There is also a tighter review process in place to manage this. A reminder that you do not need a Zoom license to work internally and you should be recommending that the business use Skype or Teams wherever possible. You also do not need a Zoom license to join a Zoom meeting, only to host your own meetings
  • We’re transitioning support to the new helpdesk to continue to meet the demands of the business.
  • We’re now working on getting privacy approval and procurement through for Zoom webinar and large meetings.
