Only got a minute, here’s what you need to know from TechOps
- We’ve rolled out Identity Beta Accounts to 30+ users
- We’ve a new Identity Architect, Michael Horton
- ServiceNow Upgraded to new semi-annual release
Identity – Calum Bell
- Elanco Identity Beta Pilot: Over the past two weeks we’ve been rolling out our new production accounts to over thirty Elanco users including many members of our IT Lead Team to test our process’ and to provide access to Pluralsight (among other applications). I’m pleased to share the pilot went well and the feedback was positive, we’re now building this in to our production rollout process.
- Elanco Workshop: This week the Identity Leadership team met to prepare for 2020 and how we will work to deliver some of what we now know is coming up. Obviously a large part of our future is going to be application migrations, so we’re standing up an IAM Factory which will support users migrate their apps to Elanco SSO.
- Operations: Another large part of what we’re doing is working with our new support Vendor HCL who are coming onboard in February who will help manage all things Infrastructure.
- Vendor onboarding: We have a lot of new users ready to join our environment and we’re excited to provide them with their real accounts, we’re on the last iteration of review with quality at which point we should be able to switch those on!
- Workstream transition: I’d like to introduce our new IAM Lead Michael Horton who joined us in December with whom I’ve been working very closely with and will be taking over IAM as of Jan 20th. I will be moving into the role of Solutions Architect within the Cloud workstream to support the application migration efforts throughout 2020, it’s been a pleasure working on the Identity workstream and am looking forward to seeing it’s progression moving forwards.

- ServiceNow Upgraded to new semi-annual release: ServiceNow Inc. provides two major releases per year, making the newest Service Management technology available to subscribers. Over this past weekend (11 Jan), the team upgraded our instance to the newest version: New York. Throughout 2020 the ServiceNow team will be implementing many new capabilities that come with this release – stay tuned for further communications on these enhancements!
- Finalizing IT Service Desk call center integration: As can be expected, the interaction between our future state IT Service Desk call centers is exceptionally complex. We are in the final stages of technical design coordinating three disparate Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems for Elanco, Lilly, and HCL (Elanco IT Service Desk). The architectural intent of this integration is to seamlessly manage users at all stages of site and tenant cutover with minimal effort on the end-user. In other words, we’ll automate the heavy-lifting so the end user does not need to remember whether to call Lilly or Elanco for help through the TSA.
- Beginning deep-dives into Bison integration: Though the integration of Bison might appear opposite to the divestiture from Lilly, the transitional IT support requirements are quite similar. The team is now entering detailed technical design sessions to ensure our ServiceNow environment is prepared to support the new Bison users where necessary throughout the acquisition.

- Communications around SharePoint and Document migrations: We are starting to work with the Corporate Comms team to share some enterprise communications for the SharePoint and Document migrations. As there may be questions from the business once this goes out, please ensure you are familiar with the overall changes in positioning of SharePoint. Some previous IT SP communications can be found here.

I have been working on setting up and configuring the test lab equipment in our Basingstoke office. The cabling is complete, I have configured the switches and firewall, and I have updated the switch software too! (Picture is from before the set-up). More coming soon!
