You should read this post if you are an application owner who will want to request infrastructure provisioning soon.
What is happening?
ETS have released a means of requesting infrastructure in our new dev environment. The process is an interim measure until we have our CMP and Automation in place. To use this service:
- Create a new configuration item. You must wait until this request is fulfilled before you move on to the next steps.
- Using this ServiceNow form, you can request:
- Web Apps (Cloud only – comes with Azure DevOps Pipeline and GitHub)
- VMs (Cloud or Colo)
- Simple Databases (e.g. MSSQL / CosmosDB)
Your request will be forwarded to a team of engineers who are manually fulfilling requests. The SLA is looking to be around a week. We are not yet able to accept requests for items which are not listed above. Once fulfilled, our engineers will inform you that your service is ready and provide information on how to access it.
Why is it happening?
Rather than wait until we have our fully-baked automation set up, we’ve launched an interim process to allow you to request some items now. As this is a short-term measure it may be a little rough around the edges, so please be patient with us whilst we mature our services.
When is it happening?
Today! As of Monday 19th August 2019, the process is now in place, and our crew of developers are waiting for your request.
How does it impact me?
This process will be important to you if you want to request infrastructure provisioning before our full provisioning stack is in place.
Where can I get more help?
Please see these slides for more details. Fundamentally, we will provide access keys to the resources to allow access via API’s, repositories and third-party tools either over the VPN (provided as part of the request) or the internet. If you need more information, please feel free to drop your question in ETS - Ask Us Anything, or if your question is more technical, please check out the Elanco Labs channel. It really helps us as a team if you ask questions in Teams you help other IT folks learn, and ETS can be more efficient by answering questions just once.
