IT Update from Fred Wenzel

Greetings Elanco IT Team,

The pace of our work to build Elanco IT from scratch is accelerating. Below is a snapshot of recent updates and information.

Introducing Tech Talks
Elanco IT teams are encouraged to join “Tech Talk” education sessions which will be offered every few weeks to provide specific information and help on four themes:

  1. Apps & Infrastructure
  2. Data Platform & AI
  3. Power Platform (PowerApps, PowerBi, Flow)
  4. Workplace & Productivity

Given the significant upcoming utilization of new Microsoft solutions, the first Tech Talk sessions will be focused on all things Microsoft. Ellie Burn will be leading this from the ETS side, and Microsoft will be running the sessions. The goal is to inspire learning and advocacy of our Microsoft suite before the new solutions arrive.
IT employees will have the opportunity to attend these sessions first. Employees outside of IT will be provided learning opportunities at a later date. With changes coming soon, this is the perfect time to get involved and educated. Thank you!

MQIT
The MQ (Manufacturing and Quality) organizations continue to plan the future IT footprint. Recent selections include SAP EAM for Plant Maintenance, and SAP QM for LIMs (Lab Information Management). The HSE sub team will finalize their new solutions choices in Q2.

The MQIT teams did an outstanding job working with their business partner and functional governance teams to leverage the IT, Business, and Data principles established in Q4 to drive evaluations that led to the One Elanco choices. These critical and difficult decisions are significant because they represent a move from previous solutions that were used for more than 10 years.

The teams recognized the long-term value of integration, cost of ownership, and foundational functionality as key elements in the One Elanco decisions. The data and analytics needs are being evaluated to determine functional solution expectations and cross functional (enterprise data analytics) needs.
The MQ focus is now on execution as the sub teams are creating project plans to provide adoption timing for each solution and the local resource requirements/guidance to the sites for business plan inputs. The MQ site IT leads are working with their teams to determine local site impact and opportunities of the new Elanco infrastructure. In addition, the site IT leads are working with the site Stallion business single point of contact to determine the best times for each site to schedule their infrastructure cutover from Lilly to Elanco environment. There are many moving parts and the entire MQIT family is well structured and focused to meet this challenge.

ETS

For application owners, the Cloud Hosting Patterns are now available in the ETS – Ask Us Anything Channel file library. Before reading, application owners should first work to fully understand their applications. Owners should then review the Cloud Hosting Patterns guidance and use the decision matrix to find a recommendation. This should allow owners to take action.

We’ve begun building out our ETS – Ask Us Anything teams channel to provide additional information. The following pages can be seen on our ETS information page:

We’ve procured 300 Zoom host licenses! Zoom is an enterprise video conferencing tool which allows users to hold online meetings and webinars from laptops or devices.  Once you have a host license you can invite anyone to a Zoom meeting (invitees don’t need to have a hosting license to join). In our new collaboration ecosystem ETS have positioned Zoom as an alternative to MS Teams.  It will be available for specific use cases where Teams may not yet be sufficiently mature to meet business needs. These licenses will be available to all but seven countries, and we’ll begin rolling them out to select users next week.

After a great deal of reading and scoring, we’ve narrowed our Support Vendor RFP from five possible providers to two. They will present their proposals in Indy in person w/c May 13th.

Last week, WWT, ETS and other vendors spent two days talking through plans for site migrations for some of our pilot moving sites. Expertise from all work streams participated in these planning meetings to help ensure success. With uncertainty concerning a final timeline on the Microsoft Tenant Migration, there are many contingencies to still consider.

On behalf of the IT Lead team, thank you for your hard work and commitment to Elanco as we approach full separation from Lilly.

Kind regards,
Fred Wenzel
