Elanco IT Team,
It’s been a busy month since we last shared some of the latest updates with you. Thanks to those of you who joined us for the IT town hall on March 13. Read on for more of what’s happening across several parts of our organization.
Cora Implementation
As we separate from Lilly, we are implementing our own IT Portfolio Management Process that will provide the overarching framework for project management processes, methodologies and tool improvements at the right size for Elanco IT. With more than 200 projects in progress or on the way via Stallion, plus our operational projects, the timing could not be better for the Cora implementation. This tool will enable IT to have one project portfolio and report on project statuses in a more formal and consistent manner moving forward.
In context of OneElanco, the M&Q team has co-led these efforts to roll out Cora for multiple uses within the M&A department, including technical transfer and monitoring of Obeya top projects.
Key edit users were trained last week and the rest of the IT organization will be trained in the coming weeks on the viewing, dash-boarding and reporting capabilities in the tool. The CORA portfolio tool is due to go live during the week of 1st April.
A soft-launch approach will be taken to minimize disruption to activities and projects.
Elanco IT Business Ops Team will take responsibility of adding all Elanco IT projects into CORA the proposed schedule is as follows:
- All Stallion Projects in Execution - 1st April
- All Level 1 and 2 Non-Stallion projects - 15th April
- All Level 3, 4 and local site projects in Execution - 1st May
The IT Business Ops team have developed a process flow, swim lanes and a job aid which denotes roles and responsibilities, along with other supporting documentation. This can be found in the MS Teams ‘Elanco All IT’ site in the ‘IT Business Ops Channel’
Please reach out to Faye Stannard with any questions.
Enterprise Principles
Many of you have asked about the Enterprise Principles as defined by the newly established Elanco Enterprise Architecture Community. These principles help guide better strategic decision making and are applicable to all business functions, including Commercial, Global Services, PMO, and Security. This blog provides insight into how these principles can help us influence the enterprise vision, support the innovation pipeline, and positively impact business outcomes, among others.
ETS
On March 22, ETS published its bi-weekly update accessible here. Highlights include:
-
Service Management: Until Elanco launches an independent ServiceNow instance for IT Service Management processes (Change, Incident, etc), these processes will be executed in the Lilly ServiceNow instance, even for independent Elanco assets. During the Validation Risk Assessment for any new asset, a Configuration Item will be created and specially designated in Lilly’s SNow instance to track the Elanco asset, and allow Elanco IT to conduct Change or Incident Management against that CI. The CI will be assigned to a special assignment group to prevent the Lilly helpdesk from assigning incidents to it by mistake. The Lilly helpdesk will not be expected to support independent Elanco assets now or in the future.
-
Lab as a Service: This service is now available for software developers in Elanco to understand the new feature set of the cloud. This is a simulated environment of Elanco’s future state: E.g. Cloud/Colo, Identity, Network. This is available until the end of May so please take advantage while it’s available by contacting Calum Bell in ETS for access.
-
ETS Ask Us Anything: We still want to hear from you. Continue to send your questions and regularly check out the Decisions tab of the ETS Ask Us Anything channel on Teams. Current topics include site roll-out plans, help desk information and IT equipment procurement.
