Lilly have announced that they are retiring The Loop and they are currently advising users which new technologies should be used instead. Lilly are replacing The Loop with a combination of Microsoft Teams, Yammer, and SharePoint Online. ETS are still making some decisions in this space, so here are some guidelines to help you navigate the changes without too much additional effort down the road. If you use The Loop for:
Storing and sharing documents…
In the future you will be able to use OneDrive to store documents. This will allow you to save your documents all in one place and share them with custom audiences. We advise that you don’t migrate your content just yet to this tool, as we don’t know what the migration process will look like from Lilly -> Elanco’s microsoft tenant. You can move your documents to your current file sharing application e.g. Box.
Handling processes and using applications…
Where you are using The Loop for apps or processes, these should be reviewed for refactoring and go through your Architects and where appropriate, through the EAC.
Discussing your projects with your immediate team…
You should move to Microsoft Teams and set up channels to discuss different topics.
Discussing topics with a wide audience outside your immediate team…
It is not recommended to use Microsoft Teams for broader conversations. Lilly have positioned Yammer for this purpose, but ETS have not yet made a decision in this space. If you choose to use Yammer in the interim period, please be aware this might not be the technology used in the future and so you might have to migrate again.
We hope this helps bring a little clarity to the current situation, and we’ll keep you updated as we know more. For any questions please contact Jo Joss, ETS Engagement Lead.
