The Digital IT team has added a new capability to their portfolio.
We have now implemented UX/UI design reviews for websites and promotional materials!
What is UX / UI design?
(Oh yes, another acronym.)
User Experience Design or UX design (UXD), typically refers to how a product functions - including what the product looks like (the user interface or UI), how it works, and whether the product brings value to an end user. It’s combined with a deep dive look at who the user is and what experience they want. UX design takes a human-centered approach to improving products, websites, and processes to make them all-around easier.
How’s it work?
It begins by putting yourself in your customers shoes. UX designers engage with humans and their emotions to form an empathic connection to determine what we pull into your website, what features need to be included and most importantly, what people want to feel when they engage with your product. We will also look at the business goals and objectives and see how we can mold all of these aspects together. UX designers think about the users needs, what their problems are, and how we can solve them. We test with users and physically see, talk about, and get a feel for what they are experiencing. Nearly 85% of UX problems can be solved by testing only 5 users. By solving their problems, we are also helping the business grow.
Once the problems are defined, we move into a state of ideation and prototype ways to solve them. We sketch, build, and innovate new ideas to physically show the business how it could be better designed. Prototypes and wireframes are explained with the psychology behind each design, defining the reasons why the innovative elements might work better for the users.
This entire process relies on a design thinking mentality to work better with the business. Working with the business in this way allows us to constantly test our ideas and improve on them before the final project is completed. It’s more of a co-design feature and making sure that what you’re designing and building is definitely what the business desires.
So how’s it working with our business partners so far?
Katherine Openshaw, Elanco UK marketing manager, defined her session as:
”Fantastic structure and clarity - loved the ideas session - one of the best meetings I’ve had in a while. The ideas we discussed to the wire frames built were brilliant -
Jaycee has a vision and talent to drive in an innovative way. Brilliant working with her. Very happy.”
From start to finish, a full review with testing and usability studies will only take 10-12 business days. For tighter timelines, we offer a lite package and consulting. We can accommodate and work with any project, so don’t be afraid to reach out and see what we can do for you. You can schedule a review here.
UX has been built directly into the workstream process and we aim to have every project that comes through Digital to include a review very soon. We are also building a design guide specifically for developers, putting UX code at their fingertips and less guesswork of how to build our website components. We aim to make every design intuitive for our users and efficient for our developers.
