Adobe Reader DC Software Upgrades Coming

Site Service Leaders and Infrastructure Business Integrators:

The pilot phase for Adobe Reader DC has successfully concluded and the production distribution has been approved by the Application Steering Committee and DWS CCB, see here for more information.

Beginning August 14th, production distributions of multi-language capable Adobe Reader DC to eligible client PCs will begin. The upgrades will occur through August and will impact approximately 30,000 Lilly workers globally. No user groups are to be excluded due to application incompatibilities at this time. Users in standard exception groups (such as Premium Users or eCDTxpress users) are excluded as usual.

This distribution of Adobe Reader DC is separate to the Adobe Acrobat DC distribution coming up. This distribution impacts only Windows 7 users with physical business PCs.

More Information
Adobe Reader DC adds new features that allow users to easily access recent files. The upgrade also includes multi-language capabilities which will allow users to choose the displayed language for toolbars and menu items. Please note that some features advertised on the Adobe website are not available for Lilly employees at this time to remain compliant with security policies__. Once installed, it uses the Operating System default language. This may be changed by navigating to Edit > Preferences > Language, and choosing the “Choose at Application Startup” option, then restarting the application. The Service Desk is ready to assist users with this configuration.

The users will receive Adobe Reader DC through SCCM and will be notified by the standard pop-up in the system tray that “Software changes are required”. The users will have two weeks to install the upgrade using Microsoft Software Center on their computer at their convenience. If they do not install the upgrade within this timeframe the upgrade will install automatically. The Service Desk is aware of the deployment and is prepared to assist with possible upgrade issues.
